How to Get NABCEP Certified as a Solar Installer in the USA

NABCEP certification is the solar industry’s most recognized credential and opens commercial work, better-paying residential clients, and access to solar financing company installer networks. Here’s the path.

FAQs

Is NABCEP worth the cost for a small solar installer?
Yes – almost universally. NABCEP certification is required by most solar financing companies (Sunrun, Mosaic, GreenSky) for installer network participation. Commercial clients routinely require it. The credential typically pays back within 2-3 additional jobs.

Can I get NABCEP certified without field experience?
The associate-level credential (PV Associate) is exam-only with no experience requirement. It’s a good starting point but doesn’t carry the same market value as the full PV Installation Professional certification.
